Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall
(1875-1936) was an English writer who at 42 years of age, embraced Islam.
He has written several novels that are set in the Middle East and through
his travels, he became fluent in Arabic, Turkish, and Urdu. He served
as the acting Imam of the London Mosque in Notting Hill. For 15 years,
he was the editor of Islamic Culture in Hyderabad, Deccan and he served
as the Nizam's advisor and publisher.
Verse 28-36 He said: O Iblis! What aileth
thee that thou art not among the prostrate? He said: Why should I prostrate
myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black
mud altered? He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for verily thou art
outcast. And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment.
He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised."
